 Temari

The designs featured on these marbles were originally inspired by the traditional designs used in ancient Japanese temari fiber balls. Layers of colored molten glass are carefully applied to the surface of the sphere in a variety of intricate patterns. These patterns are then transformed into complex geometric designs by the manipulation of the surface of the hot sphere of glass.

 Embellished

These unique spheres of glass have been variously described as “embellished”, “raised surface design” or “dysfunctional” marbles. For lack of a better description, we call them any and all of those things. They are whimsical little balls of highly detailed, raised surface elaboration. The designs tend to be symmetrical and range from geometric to floral designs.

 Engraved

This series of portrait marbles was created using a handheld dental drill to "draw" imagery on a layer of glass that had been coated with a thin deposit of specific metal oxides. The portrait was then encased in crystal to magnify the image and the reverse half of the marble finished in the "temari" technique.

 Murrine

The mosaic glass canes featured in these marbles were inspired by the work of the nineteenth-century Italian lampworker Giovanni Franchini. They are created entirely at the torch and each murrine design is available in a very limited quantity. One side of each marble is made up of mosaic cane slices encased in crystal much like a fine contemporary paperweight. The reverse side features a design that is created by the application and surface manipulation of multiple layers of molten glass.

 Special

These "special" marbles are those that are a bit out of the ordinary.
